Lines & wrinkles can be minimised by using a purified protein produced by Group A Clostridium Botulinum bacteria. This works by blocking the chemical which is required by nerves to stimulate muscle contraction.  A number of products are available for safe use, and you may know these as; Azzalure Botox®, Vistabel®, Dysport® or Xeomin®.  First Impressions will always discuss the rationale for the use of any of these products prior to their administration.

Wrinkle smoothing treatments are popular for treating lines and deep wrinkles which appear as:

	Frown lines between the eyes
	Forehead lines
	Crow’s feet
	Bunny lines (wrinkles on the side of your nose)
	Upper lip (reduces lip lines and gummy smiles)

You will hear us talking about the three areas of treatment; the above gives a clearer guide to what these areas are.

Over time, as we age, continual muscle movement gradually wears away the collagen under the skin, causing the skin to crease and wrinkles to appear. Wrinkle smoothing treatments help to relax these muscles, preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles.  This treatment temporarily stops the continual creasing of the attached skin. Wrinkle smoothing treatments work only on the specific muscles injected, leaving surrounding muscles to function as usual, allowing for normal facial expression, just with less wrinkles.  Wrinkle smoothing injections are not usually effective for fine lines.  However our other ranges of treatments may help if this is a problem for you.

Dermal Fillers are another treatment for lines and wrinkles but work differently to muscle relaxing treatments.  Dermal fillers are used to add volume to deep lines and wrinkles.
Hyaluronic acid is produced normally by the skin in youth and acts by binding water to give a fuller plumper look under the surface of the skin.  However as time goes by the body’s ability to produce hyaluronic acid reduces, leaving the skin looking less firm with deeper lines.
The products used by First Impressions are all non animal stabilised hyaluronic acids (NASHA).  These are natural biodegradable products that are absorbed naturally by the body.  First Impressions only uses the world’s leading dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Teosyl.

The use of dermal fillers to add volume and shape to the lips is a very popular treatment for clients of all age groups.  However due to the sensitivity of the lips we recommend the use of a dental block (anaesthetic by injection) to reduce any potential discomfort.  This will be discussed at length with you before any treatment is started.
